Options in aesthetic medicine continually expand, making it easier to make small – and large – changes in appearance. Even the process of breast enhancement has evolved. Patients of Dr. Sargent can approach breast augmentation surgery knowing they are in good hands. A great deal of thought goes into the planning process, and, believe it or not; you are an integral part of this whole transition into the body you have dreamed of having. We realize that most patients know they have a say in their treatment protocol; what may be missing, though, is a full understanding of what is needed.
“Give me the Usual., ”
In your day to day life, you may make this statement in some form or fashion. Maybe you order the same coffee every morni or have a preferred meal that you order when out with friends. This can save time and make you feel really happy, too, but there is no “usual” when it comes to your body. Breast augmentation is far from cookie-cutter. Breasts themselves are far from ordinary across the board. And yet, here’s what many women say when they visit a plastic surgeon: “I’d like to be a full C cup” (or any preferred cup size).
Cup size is only one measurement of breast size and shape. Just one. So it shouldn’t be the only thing on your mind when you consult with your cosmetic surgeon. When we consult with patients, we observe overall body shape, including height, shoulder width, waist circumference, and even body fat. In so doing, we can make the best possible recommendation related to the fullness of breast implants. On that note, breast implants are not made in “cup” sizes; they are filled to achieve the desired outcome.
Your Body is Unique
One of the tips that are given to women considering breast augmentation is to look at pictures. This can be good and bad. It is good to have an idea of the fullness you may prefer, but this can backfire if the images you observe are of women whose bodies are not like your own. Ultimately, the best way to determine the size, profile, texture, and type of implant that is right for you is to schedule an in-person consultation with a thorough cosmetic surgeon.
