Breast concerns, especially those related to the changing female body, are often perceived as a problem best resolved with implants. Do we choose saline or silicone? What cup size do we want to achieve with breast augmentation? These are normal questions. We want to propose something different entirely. What if breast lift surgery were the real solution to your breast concerns?
The Changing Form
There is no way to get through life unscathed by the events we go through. Women experience these events differently than men and have some of their very own that men are not a part of. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are two unique ways in which the body naturally changes for good. Even without these experiences, though, a woman is likely to see her breasts change over time.
Change in Position
For several years, breast tissue sits high on the chest wall. The fatty tissue that makes up the breasts is supported within a cocoon of resilient muscle and connective tissue. These supportive structures can fall over time, stretch out as weight changes or in response to breastfeeding. Surface and shallow tissues are also reliant on a steady influx of collagen to sustain firmness. We all know this is not a guarantee. In fact, we expect to see loose and saggy skin due to collagen decline. What this does to the breasts is cause them to sit lower on the chest.
Change in Shape
The degradation of the breasts’ hammock of tissue also leads to shape-shifting that may not be all that fascinating. The volume that was once held at the upper pole of the breast falls, creating a steep slope leading to the nipple area. A volume may now reside more heavily along the bottom of the breast, falling over the crease on the chest. Sometimes, we even see shape-change that involves a turn toward the tubular; saggy and narrower.
Nipple Changes
Age and other factors can go so far as to affect the position of the nipples on the breasts. The accumulation of fat at the bottom of the breasts may cause nipples to lose their forward projection.
The unique changes that affect the shape and position of the breasts can be corrected with mastopexy. Breast lift surgery is advantageous whether combined with breast implants are performed to reshape and reposition existing breast tissue.
